    PRESS RELEASE

CIMCIG to stress importance of trust at Marketing in Construction Summit

The Chartered Institute of Marketing Construction Industry Group (CIMCIG) will discuss the importance of trust and the role of storytelling at the forthcoming Marketing in Construction Summit on 12th February 2020 at CentreEd, ExCel London.

Following the Grenfell Tower disaster and the collapse of Carillion, the reputation of the construction industry has suffered in recent years, with these high-profile incidents casting doubt on the credibility and competence of decision makers.

In response to these issues, CIMCIG Vice Chair, Chris Ashworth, a seasoned marketer and researcher in the construction sector, will use the results of the latest Construction Media Index research to suggest how to rebuild trust with customers through trusted channels of communication. In addition, Anna Hern, MD of storytelling specialists Ridgemount PR, will demonstrate how to breathe fresh life into B2B storytelling.

Speaking ahead of the summit, Chris Ashworth said: “Trust has always been an issue we factor into our decisions, but it has become higher profile in recent years as people become aware of how often leading ‘authorities’ misled and manipulated them.

“On a day-to-day basis, in all aspects of the construction industry, trust is important, but it has to be earned.

“Our research found that different communication channels build different levels of trust, and choosing the right channels through which to gain this is imperative to your business.

“With so many platforms available, we’re looking to show attendees just how to identify trusted options, build trust in their own channels and develop the most authentic stories.”

The Marketing in Construction Summit, organised by the team behind the UK’s largest construction trade show, UK Construction Week, provides a platform for professionals with a remit for marketing within the construction sector to learn, share and develop ideas to recognise and raise brand awareness and best practice within the construction industry.

The programme focuses on brand creation, marketing strategy, digital communications and channel marketing specifically for the construction sector. Attendees will hear and learn from leading industry experts who will share a mix of thought-provoking seminars, case studies and interactive workshops during the one-day event.

The Chartered Institute of Marketing’s Construction Industry Group (CIMCIG) works on behalf of its members to raise the status of the marketing profession within the construction industry, through a mix of events, seminars and conferences.
