  • CIM honours former Patron HRH The Duke of Edinburgh

    09.04.2021

A statement from CIM’s Chair of the Board of Directors on the news of former Patron HRH The Prince Philip’s passing

We are all very saddened at the announcement of the death of His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.

It had been a very great honour for the Chartered Institute of Marketing to have HRH The Duke of Edinburgh as our Patron for more than six decades, from 1952 to 2019. Throughout this time he saw the marketing industry and CIM through a remarkable period of change and was always highly supportive, including hosting a very special dinner for CIM at Windsor Castle in 2011 to commemorate our Centenary.

As an organisation, we will continue to work with The Prince Philip’s son, The Prince of Wales, to support our members and promote the value our profession gives to both business and the wider society. The Prince of Wales took over the role of CIM’s Patron in 2019 after The Duke of Edinburgh retired from official royal duties.

Our deepest condolences go out to Her Majesty the Queen and her family.

    Kate Hamilton
