Launching EU beers for the undecided masses

Senior PR Account Managers, Iain Ross and Louise Watson-Dowell, at Yorkshire-based ilk agency will present their CIM Northern Awards winning B2C campaign for Little Valley Brewery.

Little Valley Brewery has been making exceptional beer in Hebden Bridge since 2005. They approached ilk to develop a campaign to increase brand awareness and drive sales over the spring of 2016 and as an Anglo-Dutch brewery, the EU referendum hit close to home. To commemorate it – and ensure Little Valley was a part of the conversation – a series of limited edition beers were brewed. The beers, ‘IN’, ‘OUT’ and ‘IDK (I Don’t Know)’, encouraged consumers to engage with the topic with their taste buds as well as their ballot cards.  

In congratulating ilk on this campaign the CIM Northern Awards judge said, "An excellent demonstration of theory in practice; planning and execution was critical for such a short window of opportunity with a robust PR and social media strategy and innovative approach. Particularly note-worthy are the changes in creative and changes in tactics due to feedback, results and opportunities that arose. This highlights the value of close monitoring and evaluation throughout the process most definitely resulting in the campaign exceeded expectations. It is a great example of how client and agency can work together to co-create and develop successful campaigns, even on small budgets".
