The Pharmaceutical Marketing Society and the Chartered Institute of Marketing Announce Partnership

9th June 2025: The PM (Pharmaceutical Marketing) Society is delighted to announce a new partnership with the CIM (Chartered Institute of Marketing) to build capability and excellence in marketing in the pharmaceutical industry.

The partnership, called the PMS & CIM Marketing Leaders Programme, will centre around a series of three-days face to face development training at CIM’s headquarters in October, delivered by two senior CIM course directors and focused around developing strategic marketing skills and personal brand.

The PM Society is funding this initiative which is part of the Marketing Excellence Industry Group, co-chaired by Simon Grime and Ed Thesiger.

Applications to take part will be sought from senior marketing/brand managers in pharmaceutical companies who meet the CIM qualifying criteria. The three days will be spread across two weeks in October and will be open to 10 candidates.

Once completed, three exceptional candidates who meet the criteria will be chosen to be awarded the prestigious CIM Fellowships, which will be presented by Chris Daly, Chief Executive of CIM on stage at the PM Society’s flagship event, the 2026 PM Awards in March.

Commenting on the partnership, Simon Grime, Partner at the PM Society said: "This is a very exciting partnership that we’re proud to have entered into. It aims to really help promote progress in marketing in pharma for those who have been in the industry already for several years and want to expand their remit at a more senior level."

Chris Daly, FCIM, CEO at the CIM, commented: "We’re excited about this partnership with the PM Society as the pharmaceutical industry is an important sector that we work with regularly. This programme will further embed the value of developing high level capability and performance."

The aims of the PM Society Marketing Excellence Industry Group are:

    • To encourage marketers in pharma who have great ideas and capability, to want to develop and elevate their marketing career
    • To enable access to learning, insight & people
    • To enable pharma marketers to stay current, challenge the norms, push boundaries, shape culture, change habits and behaviours and above all, to make an impact
