Kampala, Uganda 19th March 2025 – Uganda Marketers Society (UMS), under the leadership of President Charity Winnie Kamusiime Asiimwe, is delighted to announce the renewal of its partnership with The Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM), the world’s leading professional marketing body. This renewed partnership, effective from 14th February 2025, reaffirms the commitment of both organisations to advancing the marketing profession for the benefit of marketing professionals, businesses, and society in Uganda and the United Kingdom for the global business impact.
This partnership will build on the success of the initial collaboration, which has seen significant progress in aligning standards of marketing capability, accreditation, and education. Over the next three years, UMS and CIM will continue to work together to enhance access to knowledge, connections, and opportunities for professional marketers, while designing programs to support the development and mobility of the profession.
The renewed collaboration between UMS and CIM will focus on key areas to advance the marketing profession, including developing aligned pathways for professional marketers to obtain membership in both organisations and recognising specific membership grades with evidence for entry onto agreed levels. Both organisations will prioritise cascading research and content to enhance awareness and reach across Uganda and the UK, while also undertaking joint research projects where feasible.
Additionally, UMS and CIM will continue to support events that drive unity and collaboration within the marketing community. UMS will maintain its recognition of the CIM Global Professional Marketing Framework (GPMF) as a global standard for marketing capability, featuring it on the UMS website, nominating a representative for future GPMF reviews, and encouraging members to actively engage with the GPMF capability index.
President Charity Kamusiime, Uganda Marketers Society: “The renewal of this partnership with CIM is proof to the success of our collaboration over the past engagement. Together, we have made significant strides in elevating the marketing profession in Uganda, and we look forward to building on this foundation to create even greater opportunities for our members.”
Discussing the partnership Chris Daly, Chief Executive at CIM, said: “We are excited to renew our partnership with the Uganda Marketers Society. This collaboration has been instrumental in advancing the marketing profession in Uganda, and we are committed to continuing our joint efforts to promote excellence and create opportunities for marketers in both regions.”
The Chartered Institute of Marketing has 130 study centres in 36 countries and exam centres in 132 countries worldwide. These provide a professional framework for marketing at national level and through training and qualifications, help to increase skills and knowledge of those working in, or wanting to work in marketing. They also provide opportunities for members to meet locally, organise events, exchange views and exchange information with fellow professionals at all stages of their careers.
