Marketing Apprenticeships

At CIM, we believe in the importance of professional marketing training to ensure consistency and quality in the standard of marketing at all levels.

Marketers at all levels need to upskill with the pace of change, showing no signs of slowing.

Apprenticeships are a critical route for people to enter the marketing profession. The Marketing Apprenticeship Standards will help further professionalise the marketing industry. And businesses can now access apprenticeship funding for marketers wherever they are on their career journey.

We have worked with Employers, Universities and Apprenticeship Training Providers as part of a Trailblazer group to develop apprenticeship standards for marketing that accurately reflect the knowledge, skills and behaviours required to drive the development of the marketing profession now and in the future.

How does it work?

An apprenticeship is a partnership with the following:

Apprentice: In paid employment and working towards an apprenticeship

Employer: Committed to developing the Apprentice through an effective on-the-job and off-the-job training programme

Apprenticeship Training Provider: Training provider partners can work with you to develop a suitable teaching package. This could include CIM qualifications, although they are not a mandatory part of the apprenticeship standards

End-Point Assessment Organisation: They are approved to carry out robust assessment activities at the end of the apprenticeship training programme. CIM is a registered End-Point Assessment Organisation.

FAQs

An apprenticeship is a way an organisation can fund the development and upskilling of its workforce to support career progression. This can be through taking on a new apprentice or through upskilling current members of staff. The new apprenticeships are designed to reflect the changing needs of employers, learners and providers.

As an apprentice you will be in paid employment and can complete a marketing apprenticeship, which has been designed by employers to ensure it gives you the most up to date knowledge, skills and behaviours required to carry out your role effectively.

The employer will need to select a training provider to deliver the training and manage the apprenticeship programme.

Apprenticeships are not just for new starters or people who are just about to enter the workplace, they are available to all ages and existing employed members of staff.

Now and in the future, any individual can train through an apprenticeship at a higher level than a qualification they already hold. Also if there is significant new learning required it can be at a lower or equivalent level to their existing qualification.

The different levels are:

  • Intermediate (level 2) - equivalent to GCSE level
  • Advanced (level 3) - equivalent to A-level
  • Higher (level 4,5,6 and 7) - equivalent to a foundation degree or above
  • Degree (level 6 and 7) - equivalent to a bachelor's or master's degree

Minimum 12 months (plus your end point assessment) but time is dependent on the standard and your experience.

Further Information:

There is no cost to the apprentice. All costs are funded by the levy.

A full CIM Qualification cannot be completed as an Apprenticeship. However, if discussed with your training provider and employer it may be possible to integrate a CIM Module Award into the Apprenticeship training.

Apprentices may also be eligible for exemptions upon completion of the Apprenticeship, please click here to view exemptions routes.

CIM is an apprenticeship End Point Assessor, however, we do not provide apprenticeship training. We would advise you speak to the apprenticeships providers to find out more information on the pricing, duration and availability for each level of training offered.
