For years, Stockport was overlooked. The town centre struggled, footfall dropped and ambition felt muted.
Fast forward to today.
Stockport County is back on an upward trajectory, with clear leadership, fan engagement and on-pitch success. The club has become a rallying point for local pride, not just on matchdays but culturally. The town itself is changing, with regeneration projects, independent businesses returning, new residential developments. Guest speaker Matt McKie will share a renewed sense that Stockport is worth backing.
Football hasn't done this alone, but it has played a catalytic role: Visibility, belief and momentum matter. It connects sport, place, leadership and identity.
