British Film Institute Video Editing Essentials for Marketers training course

The skills needed to create, commission, edit and distribute film and video are essential to capitalise on film as a key communication tool. BFI and CIM have partnered to enhance the film and video capability of marketing professionals, recognising the breadth of skills required of modern marketers.

This programme has been designed to equip marketers with the expertise to commission, shoot, edit and distribute professional video content:

Filmmaking and Video Production (2 days)
Using a laptop, iPad, smartphone or digital SLR, you will learn to execute key shots, film interviews and vlog posts alongside storyboarding, sound, lighting and editing techniques.

Video Editing (2 days)
Learn how the quality and impact of your content can be dramatically increased during editing and post-production, as you are taken through practical exercises in shaping story, creating emotional and aesthetic effects and guiding points of view.

Video Distribution and Copyright (2 days)
Understand the key copyright practices necessary to safely distribute and capitalise promotional video content.

  • Understand copyright duration, types of copyright works, licensing of works, as well as available copyright exceptions
