Marketing standards

High standards of quality and integrity are vital to the success of the marketing profession. So maintaining, developing and setting standards within the industry is a key part of The Chartered Institute of Marketing's work.

All our members are expected to adhere to our Code of Professional Practice, which requires marketers to be honest, legally compliant and up-to-date. The Code can be viewed in our Royal Charter, Bye-laws and General Regulations 2012 document.

Drawn up after extensive research with employers and leading academics, our Professional Marketing Standards clearly show the skills expected of marketing professionals at every stage of their career. These standards give individuals and organisations the basis on which to assess the abilities of a capable and competent marketer.
